Give a description of the steppe zone

The steppe zone most often borders on the forest-steppe in the north, and on the subtropics in the south. Natural conditions in the steppe zone are rather harsh. In summer, there is rather little precipitation, approximately 200-300 mm, which does not allow for better development of vegetation. In winter, the rather cold temperature often drops to -30 degrees Celsius. The vegetative period of most plants to dress up in the spring, when the earth has not yet had time to give up the moisture remaining from the melting of snow. However, the fauna is quite diverse.
