People have noticed evidence of the sphericity of the Earth in antiquity.
• On the Moon, the round edge of the Earth’s shadow is visible, because of which it can change its appearance.
• When moving south, the stars rise above the horizon in proportion to the distance traveled and new ones appear that were not visible before.
• When moving to the north, the stars, on the contrary, proportionally decrease above the horizon.
• When a ship or other large object approaches, even on a flat surface, its uppermost part becomes visible first. This is due to the curvature of the earth’s surface.
• The most compelling evidence is imagery from space, which shows that the Earth is in the shape of a ball.
