In chemistry, there is a separate group of carbon compounds called alcohols. This group contains in its composition a hydroxyl group OH, which in turn is bonded to carbon.
Alcohols are divided into the following groups:
The first group is one atomic alcohols, that is, alcohols that contain one hydroxyl group in their composition, these include the following alcohols:
CH3OH – this alcohol is called methanol,
С2Н5ОН – this alcohol is called ethanol,
С3Н7ОН – this alcohol is called propanol,
С4Н9ОН – THIS alcohol is called butane.
The second group is called multivolume, that is, it contains two or more hydroxyl groups.
