Give examples of competitive relationships.

Competitive relationships are relationships between organisms that are characterized by a struggle for some resource they need for life, for example, food, light, etc. Competition is usually established between organisms of the same species or closely related species living in the same limited environment, where there are not enough resources for all organisms.

An example of interspecific competitive relationships can be the relationship between two types of ciliates – Paramecium caudatum and Paramecium aurelia.

Intraspecific competition is manifested to one degree or another in almost all populations, and an example is the small flour beetle (Tribolium confusum), which is a favorite object of study of ecologists.
