An extensive path of economic development existed at some time in the USSR. This was when industrialization began, namely its first five-year plan. It was aimed precisely at a quantitative indicator: new enterprises were built, a lot of products were produced, but no one cared about the qualifications of workers, about the quality of products. It was the same after the war: there was a slogan “five-year plan – 4 years”. People were eager to produce as many products as possible.
