Paving their way among flat spaces, rivers erode the bottom and banks in which they flow. The water stream picks up the washed away rocks and carries them downstream. Most of the river sediments are deposited on gentle banks, as well as in the lower reaches of the river. If the wind blows constantly, then grains of sand are collected in sandy ridges – dunes or sickle-shaped hills – dunes.
