Given a parallelogram ABCD, its perimeter is 50cm. Find the sides of the parallelogram if one of its sides is 7cm larger than the other.

Let the two parallel sides of the parallelogram be equal to a cm.
Then the other two parallel sides of the parallelogram are equal to (a + 7) cm.

Perimeter P = a + a + (a + 7) + (a + 7) = 50.
4a + 14 = 50
4a = 50 – 14 = 36
a = 36/4 = 9 cm.
The two sides of the parallelogram are 9 cm.
Let’s find the value of the second two sides:
9 + 7 = 16 cm.
Answer: 9 cm .; 9 cm; 16 cm; 16 cm.
