Given a trapezoid. Base refers to 1; 3, middle line = 8cm. Find the grounds.

A trapezoid is a quadrilateral in which all sides are of different lengths, and only two are parallel.

The middle line is a line segment parallel to the bases. It connects the middle of the lateral sides and is equal to half the sum of the bases of the trapezoid:

m = (BC + AD) / 2.

Since the bases of the trapezoid are 1: 3, we express their length as follows:

x is the length of the smaller base of the BC;

3x – the length of the larger AD base;

(x + 3x) / 2 = 8;

x + 3x = 8 2;

4x = 16;

x = 16/4 = 4;

BC = 4 cm;

AD = 3 4 = 12 cm.

Answer: the length of the BC base is 4 cm, the AD base is 12 cm.
