| Given two rectangles with equal perimeters. The first rectangle is 12 cm long, 7 cm wide. The width of the second rectangle is 5 cm. Find the length of the second rectangle
Let 2 rectangles ABCD and A1B1C1D1 be given.
PABCD = PA1B1C1D1.
1) PABCD = (12 + 7) * 2 = 38 cm;
2) 5 * 2 = 10 cm the sum of the lengths of the sides A1B1 and C1D1;
3) (38 – 10) / 2 = 14 cm – the length of the second rectangle A1D1 = B1C1.
Answer: the length of the second rectangle A1B1C1D1 is 14 cm.
