Guerrilla warfare against Napoleon’s troops.

Guerrilla warfare is one of the three main forms of the struggle of the Russian people against the invasion of Napoleon’s multinational troops in the war of 1812. It is a whole series of armed clashes that took place between the occupiers on the one hand and volunteers who escaped from captivity as soldiers, as well as some parts of the Russian army, on the other hand.

There were 2 types of partisan units:

Flying detachments formed from Cossack detachments and army cavalry on the orders of Mikhail Kutuzov.
Self-defense units, consisting of peasants.
