Highlight the main trends in Puritanism.

Puritanism is a reformation movement of the bourgeoisie, which arose in the 16-17th centuries, instructing on the separation of church from state, confiscation of church lands, rejection of a number of church rites, i.e. limiting the absolute power of the church. Two main directions or wings can be distinguished. The first wing of the moderate – the Presbyterians, who demanded the destruction of the remnants of Catholicism in the church and the replacement of bishops – by synods. The second wing is radical – the separatists completely condemned the church, rejected the power of both bishops and synods.
