How are frogs and toads similar and different?
Both frogs and toads are amphibians. Both are vertebrates in structure. They lay eggs under water, from which their babies – tadpoles hatch. Frogs and toads are capable of making sounds in the water. The similarities are over.
There are much more differences. First, the shape and surface of the body. In frogs, it is elongated and smooth, while in toads it is rounded, dry, warty. Toads are capable of being without water for a long time, but the frog is not. Toads have no membranes on their feet, their limbs are more adapted for jumping than for swimming. The toad cannot run fast, and the poison in its eyes serves as self-defense. Frogs are much more mobile, their poison is more benign. It is excreted through the skin. And frogs have sharper hearing.
