How are icebergs formed?

Icebergs initially form part of the cover, shelf or surface glaciers in the far north or south of the planet, where cold weather prevails throughout the year. These glaciers are constantly, but very slowly, moving from the center of the continent or island to the outskirts, since in the center the mass increases and presses on all sides of the glacier. When the glacier stretches too much, its extreme parts end up on the water, without a solid support they break under their own weight and are carried away by the ocean current into the ocean, i.e. become icebergs.
