How are plants and animals adapted to life in the desert?

Desert animals live in holes or burrow in the sand, some go into hibernation in the summer. Plants have long and branched roots; instead of leaves, many have thorns.

Desert animals are usually grayish yellow or brown in color, which helps them blend in with the color of the sand. They can go without water for a long time or simply not drink it. They have enough moisture, which they get by eating plants. Also, some are nocturnal or hibernate, and daytime animals are mainly under the shade of trees.
