How are the vertebrae in the spine connected?

The spine is the basis of the skeleton, carries out musculoskeletal activity. Consists of 33-34 vertebrae, which are continuously connected together in an upright position. Thanks to it, body support, balance and upright posture are maintained. The vertebrae are securely anchored by many joints (ligaments, joints, syndesmosis and synostosis). The vertebral bodies are interconnected with the help of cartilage (intervertebral discs). Despite this density, the spinal column is flexible and can move in any direction.
