For a long time, the feudal-serf system prevailed on the territory of Russia, which assumed the complete dependence of the peasants on their landlords. Naturally, this form of relationship did not allow the economy to develop efficiently. Over time, such relations moved to another plane, and serfdom itself was abolished. Thus, free farmers were able to work for themselves on their own land, which brought great benefits to them and the state itself.
