How did ancient sculptors and poets portray Athena?

The goddess Athena, or otherwise Athena Palada, was considered one of the 12 most revered Olympic gods in Greece. She was the goddess of martial arts, strategy, wisdom. She was also the patroness of the city of Athens, for which many temples and statues were built for her. Ancient sculptors and poets saw Athena as distinguishable from other goddesses, she was dressed in armor, with a spear in her hand, besides, she was accompanied by sacred animals. Another important distinctive attribute of Athena was the Corinthian helmet and shield of Aegis (with the head of the Gorgon Medusa).
