How did England become a maritime power?

In 1805, there was a skirmish between the English and French-Spanish fleets, as a result of which the British completely defeated their rival. This victory confirmed the superiority of England at sea. Also, in this century, the naval battles of England against Spain, France, Holland took place, as a result of which England won confident victories. It was thanks to these battles that England acquired the status of “Sea Power” for a long time.
