How did it happen that the defeat of the Latin American patriots by the mid-1810s. almost immediately turned into the beginning of a winning streak? What is it more connected with external reasons (for example, events in Europe) with internal or simply explains by coincidence

The countries of Latin America, being the former colonies of Spain, did not have the opportunity to resist a country that was much better armed, with a navy and army, and also hardened in colonial wars.

There were several reasons why they managed to defend their independence:

First, Spain by that year plunged into a series of internal crises that resulted in the defeat in the war against Bonaparte. Then Spain, thus becoming an ally of France, lost to Great Britain in the Battle of Trafalgar, having lost its fleet, and could not provide assistance to the troops in the colonies.

Secondly, the rebels received active assistance abroad. Countries interested in Spain bogged down in a large number of conflicts supply the rebels with weapons and ammunition.

And finally, in some countries, the commanders of the colonial armies themselves went over to the side of the rebels, believing that in this way they could seize power and rule the country themselves. And many of the participants in the wars of independence, including the closest circle of Simon Bolivar, had military experience and knew the area well, in contrast to the arriving Spaniards.
