How did Japan’s position differ from that of other Asian countries?

It is about the period from 1800 to 1900. Differences:

The highest level of isolation from the outside world and minimal contact with Europeans until the 1850s-1860s.
Feudal system (princes-daimyo).
Weak power of the emperor until 1868 and the concentration of state power in the hands of the shogun.
In 1868, it was in Japan that the first Asian republic on the island of Hokkaido appeared; it existed for only a year.
In the 1880s, Japan became the first Asian country to have a parliament and constitution.
Since 1868, successful reforms took place in the country, as a result, by 1900 it became the most developed in Asia, avoided colonial dependence on the model of India or Burma and division into spheres of influence like China or Persia.
