How did Julius Caesar become the sole ruler?

Julius Caesar was able to come to power due to the fact that he unleashed a civil war. It started in 49 BC. Then he and his legions crossed the Rubicon River (this later became the catch phrase “to cross the Rubicon). Then he was able to seize power in Rome and turn into a dictator, that is, become the sole ruler. But Caesar’s triumph did not last long. Already in 44 BC, an attempt was made on his life, during which he was killed.
