How did medieval man’s ideas about the world change in the Middle Ages? What was the reason for this?

The Middle Ages is the period of the beginning of a radical change in the worldview of people. Conventionally, the Middle Ages can be divided into several stages: early, middle and later. During the first two periods, people’s lives were strictly regulated by church norms, the violation of which was severely punished. During the late Middle Ages, the role of the church in the life of society declines. The Age of Geographical Discoveries begins. A person’s knowledge of the world increases several times. People are beginning to take an interest in art, science. Trade relations between states are expanding, the exchange of cultural values begins to take place. And if at the initial stages of the Middle or Dark Ages people blindly believed the dogmas of the Church, then starting from the 15th century the rudiments of scientific knowledge begin to flash.

In the era of the Middle Ages, large-scale changes in human ideas about the world took place. The main changes should be listed separately:

The structure of the Earth became generally known and was recognized by the Catholic Church. If before the era of geographical discoveries, for statements about the spherical shape of the Earth, they were sent to the fire, then later this knowledge became obvious;
Long sea voyages and constant wars for the colonies have led to the improvement of shipbuilding and weapons business. This led to the development of metalworking technologies, gunpowder began to be widely used. Consequently, people learned many new properties of objects;
Astronomy began to develop actively. People began to better navigate the sea, the first measuring instruments appeared. This means that people have learned a lot of new information about the stars, planetary movements, natural phenomena of the southern seas;
During geographical discoveries, people encountered in previously unknown tribes – Indians, Africans. One way or another, the customs and beliefs of these tribes became the subject of study, which further expanded knowledge about the world around them.
