How did medieval society differ from society in the Roman Empire and barbarian kingdoms?

The society of the Roman Empire was much more friendly with hygiene than the society of the Middle Ages, which suffered greatly from dirt and epidemics. In Rome, inner beauty was valued, hence the magnificent statues and sculptures, and in the Middle Ages, spiritual beauty was valued, therefore, the appearance was less watched.

The society of the Middle Ages was feudal, and the society of Rome was slave-owning. In addition, in the Middle Ages there were many states, and in the days of Rome, in fact, only the Roman Empire itself existed on the territory of Europe until the division into west and east in 395.

The barbarian kingdoms, in comparison with the Middle Ages, were primitive in terms of economics (trade was poorly developed), culture (in fact, there was no painting, literature, architecture) and politics. Hence the unstable borders and frequent changes of capitals.
