How did primitive people draw in caves or on rocks?

Historians distinguish between one-color and multi-colored drawings on the slopes of the caves. The drawings were created using a variety of dyes of mineral, vegetable or animal origin.

Initially, charcoal was used. A Stone Age artist simply took an extinct ember from a fire and applied drawings. Later they began to use paints of mineral origin – ocher, manganese oxide, hematite, various types of clays.

For greater durability, the paints were mixed with binders such as tree resin or animal fat.

They drew with fingers, hollow tubes, and reeds. Used and primitive brushes made of animal hair.
