How did the barbarian world differ from ancient civilization?

1. Barbarians might not have a written language and written culture at the level of the Romans and Greeks.

2. The barbarians did not have a system at the level of the Greek polis democracy, the Roman republic or the empire. The structure of their society was primitive, you can call it “military democracy”.

3. They were often pagans, they adopted Christianity under the influence of Rome.

4. They had a primitive culture in every sense, they did not build roads, aqueducts, stadiums, walls, magnificent temples. Sculpture and other decorative arts (mosaics) were not developed.
