How did the deepening of reforms manifest after decisive victories over the Swedes?

In connection with the expansion of territories, the content of the army increased sharply, since foreign policy required huge costs. New taxes were introduced on the spiritual tax and a census of the population of tax-paying estates was conducted. The main goal of foreign policy was, everyone knows, an attempt to Europeanize Russia – forced reforms with the use of violence, which ultimately divided the population. Also, the most important reform was the transformation of the army – each recruit was sent to life-long service, and the army itself was subject to uniform regulations and the Emperor.
