How did the East India companies of England, France and Holland carry out the colonization?

The East India Companies were actually separate states within their own states. At the beginning of their voyages, they acted liberally, trying to win a dominant role in local markets and maximize profits. Already after, when the companies received military force, they began to conduct both conquests in the countries where they were, and fought among themselves, sometimes even at the expense of the local population. One of the companies provided weapons to locals to attack other similar companies and thus eliminate competition.
