How did the farmers and artisans live in Egypt?

The farmers and artisans of Egypt belonged to the lower strata of the population. However, all of Egypt was fed at the expense of the workers. They sowed mainly wheat and barley, for which they did a lot of work: they dug canals, built dams, sowed grain, sting, threshed and blew. Most of what they managed to earn with hard work was taken by the treasury to feed the army of the pharaoh. Artisans included weavers, blacksmiths, potters, stone cutters, jewelers, shipbuilders, builders and carpenters.
