How did the Gothic style differ from the Romanesque?

Features of the Romanesque style: small volumes, walls bear the load, small windows, low ceilings, columns do not matter.
Features of the Gothic style: large volumes are permissible, frame elements (ribs, flying buttresses, buttresses) bear the load, windows can occupy the entire surface of the wall (also decorated with stained-glass windows), walls are thin, columns are the main bearing elements, high arches.
