How did the hostilities develop during the Russo-Japanese War?

Combat operations as a whole developed unsuccessfully for the Russian army and navy. At the initial stage of the war, a mine blew up the ship on which Admiral Makarov was located, this was a great loss for the fleet. On land, the Japanese immediately blocked Port Arthur and unexpectedly took it in December due to the death of Commander Kondratenko.

At sea in 1905, the Russian fleet was defeated at Tsushima, and in the summer of 1905 the Japanese captured the south of Sakhalin.

From Port Arthur, they advanced across Manchuria and defeated the Russian army at Liaoyang (August 1904) and Mukden (March 1905).
