How did the relations of the Eastern Slavs develop with their neighbors?

Our ancient ancestors preferred a peaceful lifestyle, as they rarely fought with other tribes. Most often they had to defend themselves against the constant raids of nomads and Khazars from the east. For example, they mainly traded with the Varangians and the Byzantines (Greeks), however, there were cases when the Slavs made sea trips to Byzantium.
One of the components of a person's success in our time is receiving modern high-quality education, mastering the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for life in society. A person today needs to study almost all his life, mastering everything new and new, acquiring the necessary professional qualities.
