How did the relationship between Christians and pagans develop?

Christians have always hated and despised pagans, considered them thinness, which is unworthy of life. At the same time, the Christians forgot that they themselves were pagans before. The pagans, in turn, thought that Christians were fools, they especially disdained when they heard that the latter were eating the flesh of their God and drinking his blood. Both sides sought to prove that their gods are the strongest and united, therefore, often disputes ended in the complete destruction of one of the parties. But in due time the pagans understood that the Christian religion is the religion of the future and the pagans renounced the old gods.
