How did the Soviet-Chinese conflict develop?
The Damansky conflict of 1969 was the largest conflict with China in the modern history of the USSR and the Russian Federation. The main reason for the conflict was the delimitation of the state border between the two powers along the Ussuri River. There was an island named after engineer Damansky, on which the Chinese rightfully claimed, but the Soviet military in every possible way prevented civilians from carrying out economic activities there. After a series of skirmishes, the tension escalated into a hot phase with the use of weapons in early March 1969. On the 14-15th there were battles for control of this island. The Soviet military used the Grad installation. In the fall of 1969, hostilities were stopped. In 1991, Damansky was transferred to the PRC.
