How did the territory of the European part of Russia change in the 17th century?

The territories of the western part of the country were significantly expanded in the western direction due to the annexation of the lands of the Left-Bank Ukraine, as well as due to the return of the lost lands of Smolensk. Most of these territories became part of the state as a result of the Russian-Polish confrontation, which intensified especially in the second half of the 17th century.
