How did the territory of the European part of Russia change in the 17th century?

| The territories of the western part of the country were significantly expanded in the western direction due to the annexation of the lands of the Left-Bank Ukraine, as well as due to the return of the lost lands of Smolensk. Most of these territories became part of the state as a result of the Russian-Polish confrontation, which intensified especially in the second half of the 17th century.
