How did the uprising of Spartacus take place? What skills did gladiators possess?

1. Beginning in a small gladiatorial school, the gladiatorial uprising covered almost half of Italy. Spartacus, having collected an army, and destroying the Roman legions, went south to leave the country by sea. But betrayed by the Cilicians, they were forced to turn towards Rome in order to leave by land. And they were eventually destroyed.
2. Gladiators possessed martial skills. But they were weak in strategy and tactics. Like most of the slaves who joined them during the uprising.
