How do bacteria cope with adverse living conditions?

When exposed to unfavorable conditions, bacteria form spores, while losing part of the water, decreasing in volume and forming a dense protective shell. In the form of spores, bacteria are extremely resistant to mechanical, thermal and chemical influences, but exposure to ultraviolet radiation is detrimental to them. In addition to waiting out unfavorable conditions, spores, due to their ease, are used for settling over long distances. Unlike spores of plants and fungi, bacterial spores do not participate in reproduction.
