How do I find the perimeter of a rectangle if the area and width are known?

P = a + b + a + b = 2a + 2b = 2 * (a + b), where a is the width, b is the length;

S = a * b;

We know the area and width, so we can find the length.

b = S / a;

P = 2 (a + S / b);

Answer: P = 2 (a + S / b).

Let’s look at numbers as an example:

S = 12 cm2, a = 3 cm;

b = 12/3 = 4 cm;

P = 2 * (3 + 4) = 2 * 7 = 14 cm.
