How do mushrooms and lichens eat?

Lichens are autoheterotrophic. The lichen feeds on organic substances that it can synthesize itself. mushrooms are able to absorb moisture throughout the entire surface. They grow on trees and rocks in places where the air is polluted. That is, they are indicators of pollution. They grow slowly and, being autoheterotrophs, are able to survive in the most difficult conditions. Experiments have shown that lichens can live in a vacuum for about ten days. Most plants and fungi do not possess these properties.
