How do mushrooms get the energy they need to live?

Fungi are living organisms that are heterotrophs by the type of nutrition, since they are unable to produce nutrients. Some of them receive organic matter by processing the dead remains of animals and plants. The other part enters into symbiosis with higher plants, mainly with trees. At the same time, the fungus receives organic substances and gives the tree water and mineral salts, and also protects the tree from diseases by releasing substances similar to antibiotics.
