How do the lungs work?

Lungs are paired spongy organs formed by bronchi (paired organ of the respiratory system, their main role is to conduct air coming from the environment into the lungs and remove it back after absorbing oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide in the alveoli), bronchioles (airways, the diameter of which is less 1mm) and alveoli (the smallest vesicles that make up the lungs). The main function of the lungs is to ensure gas exchange between the environment and the body.
