How do the molecules of any substance interact with each other?

In any substance, regardless of its density, molecules are in constant motion. Molecules are constantly in contact with each other. When the distance between molecules becomes the same as the molecule itself, they are attracted to each other. As a result, a collision of molecules occurs – then they repel each other, and the distance between them increases. If a solid is wetted, then the liquid attracts the molecules of the solid. Non-wettability occurs when the molecules of a liquid are more strongly attracted to each other than to the molecules of a solid.
