How do tundra plants and animals adapt to seasonal changes?

The tundra is a region with a rather harsh climate; not every animal and plant can survive in cold, high humidity conditions. Tundra plants are mostly stunted plants that creep along the ground. They have a waxy coating on small leaves, short roots, bright flowers; all adapted to high humidity, frost-resistant and shade-tolerant. Plants begin to bloom before the leaves appear, so that fruits and seeds are formed in a short summer time. Animals have coloration that disguises them as their environment. They have a reserve of adipose tissue and thick fur, and birds have warm plumage. Many animals hibernate or migrate to warmer regions.
