How do turtles breed?

Turtles are dioecious animals. They become sexually mature at the age of five, and some species at an older age. Most often, the breeding season begins in the spring. The male makes sounds to attract the opposite sex. The mating period lasts 1-3 weeks. After 2-3 months, the female lays 2 to 30 eggs in the sand. The animal carefully chooses the place where the turtle will dig a hole for the eggs. There must be favorable conditions for the development of offspring. After laying the eggs, the turtle buries the sand. She may return in a while and lay eggs here. Small turtles hatch from an egg in 2-14 months, depending on the type of turtle.
