How do wage workers differ from dependent peasants?

The whole point is that hired workers are interested in the good performance of their duties, as they get paid for it. The peasants were forced to perform work for the benefit of their landowner. Their labor was compulsory. In this connection, the quality of such work suffered. This was the main difference between wage and serf labor. This also became one of the reasons for the abolition of serfdom, since the development of the economy in Russia was hampered by the lack of professional workers.
