How does a recruiting army differ from a streltsy army?

The idea of a recruiting army was taken by Peter I from Europe, for example, from Sweden, with which he fought for 21 years and where a similar system existed since the end of the 17th century. Even the term “recruit” itself was foreign, while archers, on the contrary, had their own term and the system also had its own.

Secondly, the recruits were a permanent army, they were taken into service for 25 years, in fact for life, since the chances of living up to 40-45 years for a person who was drafted in the 18th century in 15-20 were low (losses in wars, just diseases ). The archers were not quite a regular army, they could engage in some kind of crafts in their free time from the war.

The archers also performed the functions of police and firefighters in the 17th century, they could choose their commanders and constituted a special service class (like the Cossacks), so they even rebelled (1682 and 1698, for example).

The recruits were commanded by nobles, they did not choose commanders, they did not have rights, they were not a special class, they could not earn extra money in peacetime, they did not arrange riots.
