How does Antarctica differ from the rest of the continents?

Antarctica is the coldest continent and lies almost entirely beyond the Arctic Circle. It is the “highest” continent, despite the average thickness of 2-3 km of the ice cap in Antarctica, seismic zones are very active, but due to the high ice density, earthquakes are practically not felt. There is also an active volcano in Antarctica – Erebus. Also Antarctica is the only continent on which there is no permanent population. Antarctica was discovered later than anyone else, and because of its climate, it was later explored.
