How does groundwater differ from interstratal?

There are several signs by which groundwater and interstratal waters differ from each other.
1) Groundwater is located on the upper water layer from the surface, and interstratal water is the lower layer.
2) The groundwater level changes frequently, and the interstratal water level is almost always constant
3) Groundwater is more polluted compared to inter-plate waters.
