How does the angle of rotation of the rays emerging from the prism depend on the color of the ray?

The phenomenon of different refraction of rays by a prism depending on color is called light dispersion. The violet rays are most strongly refracted because they have the shortest wavelength and high energy and, as a result, interact more strongly with matter and slow down more strongly. The smallest angle of rotation is for the red rays with the longest wavelength.

The phenomenon of dispersion was discovered by Newton and is now explained by the fact that the decrease in the speed of light in matter, and hence the refractive index, depends on the wavelength.
