How does the British Parliament differ from the French states-general?

In the Middle Ages, a limited monarchy began to take shape in the world. This form of government began to appear in Western European states in the 13th century. In France, such a body was represented by the states general, in Germany – by the Reichstag, etc. In England, estate-representative bodies also appeared in the 13th century. It was different from the others, as it was divided into two chambers: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. One of the main differences was that the parliament in England did not act constantly, but according to the convocations of the king at a certain time.
