How does the relationship between a feudal lord and a peasant differ from the relationship between a slave owner and a slave?

The slave was the personal property of its owner. He could sell him or even kill him – and completely without hindrance and without any consequences. It was the master’s full right to control the lives of his slaves. The main difference between a dependent peasant and a slave is the right to life. Unlike a slave, a peasant had this right, and a feudal lord could be prosecuted and punished for killing a peasant. True, in practice, it did not always come to this. In the Russian Empire, serfs were practically equal to slaves.
